As a church we define discipleship as ‘following Jesus in all of life’. This way of living, through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, is reflected in six key practices which we encourage each member of our church community to commit to – Prayer and Worship, Creativity, Hospitality and Generosity, Compassion and Justice, Mission, Discipleship.
In order to grow deeper in this Jesus-way together in 2022 we are suggesting a set of ‘Community Rhythms’. These rhythms come from a tradition throughout church history called a ‘Rule of Life’, which is simply an intentional plan and set of practices to help us abide in Jesus. We desire Jesus’ loving rule in our lives above the chaos of the world around us.
Below are some of these suggested practices that as a church family we could share together throughout this year, growing together in the presence of God more fully into the image of His Son. These shared practices are split over the three main areas of our lives:
PERSONAL DEVOTION
AIM
To live a life abiding in the presence of Jesus, anchored in His word and overflowing with His love.
RHYTHMS
Quiet Time – a daily commitment to time alone with God. Reading at least one chapter of the Bible daily.
Sabbath – an intentional day of pause and rest in each week.
Sharing life and faith – a personal commitment to sharing Christ in words and actions.

MEANINGFUL RELATIONSHIPS
AIM
To live a life committed to healthy relationships with others, giving and receiving loving input to help me increase in Christlikeness.
RHYTHMS
Family Altar – a weekly rhythm of practicing communion together as a family.
Accountable Relationships – committing to a church Lifegroup – meeting at least fortnightly.
Welcome In/Reach Out – welcoming others into our families and Lifegroups. Reaching out generously to others in loving actions and sharing the good news.

LOCAL CHURCH
AIM
To live a life of belonging to and service in the body of Christ.
RHYTHMS
‘The Lord’s Prayer’ – pausing each day at 12noon wherever we are to pray together.
Gathering of the Saints – a commitment to weekly Sunday gatherings and fortnightly Corporate Prayer gatherings.
Sacrificial giving – choosing to tithe faithfully and serve within one area of the church’s ministry.
