Embarrassing

Ever had one of those "Most embarrassing moments". Well i've had a few lately so let me fill ya in on one of them. I am sporting a broken ankle at the mo and am on crutches so I decided to go to the bank yesterday. I left the office on my crutches and on the way over the street put one of my crutches into a grating over a gully. After almost falling over I pulled the rubber end of my crutch which fell into the gully. I then proceded to get onto my knees, lift the gully lid and look for my rubber end for my crutch. This is in the middle of my home town and I sort of thought I got away with it until I bumped into a elderly lady today who said, "I saw you cleaning a gully out yesterday Pastor". How do you explain that one?

You should have told her you are seeking to serve the people of Lurgan by cleaning their gullys. Like a modern day example of Jesus washing his disciple's feet. She may have even bought you an ice-cream!

I heard you'd dropped a 50p down the gully and were looking for it!

From reading many of your churches blogs and talking to some of the 'Emmanuelers'it seems to me that keeping the Sabbath day is not a strong point in your teaching. Many blog about doing other things on Sunday and I know many of them shop on Sunday. I wish this was ok but I think God teaches us differently.

keep sunday special.....
given my illustrious free presbyterian background, I heard this preacehd for years...

i'm sure God mentions something about not judging in case you're judged yourselves....or perhaps that's just in MY bible....

as for shopping on a sunday...well shame on us all....my wife is a cancer nurse who stands on her feet 10 hours per day giving chemotherapy during the week...i don't think God will mind if i sneak out to a restaurant every Sunday and buy her sunday lunch...with millions of people dying without knowing God and his saving Grace every day, I would suspect Christians might have bigger concerns....or maybe again that's just me?
