No Judging

I was reading this morning in Acts 15 and I was enjoying the bit were the Apostles are arguing over whether or not the gospel is for the Gentiles. This was even after Peter, Paul and Barnabas had told of their journeys, miracles and healings. It's a bit like saying "I hear you but I have my mind set so you won't change it".
Oh how judgemental we can be and here it is in the early church as well. We're good at looking at other people and giving our opinion as to what they should do or to what a disgrace they are.
I like James in Acts 15 as the leader of the church in Jerusalem sends a letter to the Gentiles in Antioch and totally disowned the gossippers. Mind you James had to be convinced as well so he couldn't be to critical either but he had the guts to say he was wrong and do the right thing.
Today's word from me is this, look in the mirror and sort that person out. If your like me that should keep you busy and be real slow to make an opinion on someone else because 9.9 times out of 10 you haven't a clue what's going on in that other persons life. Matthew 7:1 "Do not judge others and you will not be judged".

Hi Philip

You used a phrase in your sermon yesterday which caught my imagination: "a party with a purpose". So I've decided to turn my annual New Years Party into a fundraiser for Tear Fund!

True, but very often other people who care about us can see things in our lives very clearly that we can't see. It is important that those who love us can 'speak the truth in love' and we are willing to listen, as we can often learn a lot!
