Driven 5

I thought I would stop my little series yesterday but God is still ministering some stuff. Many of you will know I used to work on Lough Neagh sailing a sand barge. I still dibble a little at it and love it. On the boat is an auto pilot, you plot your course, hit the button and she’ll go straight there. On the boat I used to work on there was a thing on the auto pilot called a nudge button, one push would steer the boat one degree either way and if you held the button a few seconds it steered ten degrees. I have been thinking about how our life’s can go into autopilot and we just think that’s it but this morning I want to encourage you to hit your nudge button especially in an area you need to change. To change any thing you must change the way you think because behind everything you do is a thought. To move your hand, it must go to the brain. Every thought is motivated by a belief and every belief prompted by an attitude. Proverbs 4:23 says, Your life is shaped by your thoughts.
Now back to my autopilot, what I didn’t tell you yet is that a few seconds after you hit the nudge button, the boat will refind its original course, it’s only temporary.
That’s what happens when you try to change your life by willpower alone. Exercise more, quit being disorganized, stop drinking/smoking etc. Willpower only produces short term change, if you don’t change the way you think you will soon revert to the old patterns.
For a few days I want to tell you how to change your autopilot, how to replot your course. It starts in Romans 12:2 Renew your Mind, change the way you think.
