Never say Never

Didn't sleep very well last night and I was just reading this morning of Peter denying the Lord in Matthew 26. The last six words of the chapter caught me “And he went away crying bitterly”. Poor Peter, he’s breaking his heart because he just did something he never thought he could do. It was only hours before hand in verse 33 of the same chapter he had declared, “Even if everyone else deserts you, I NEVER WILL”. I wonder have you ever made a claim of I NEVER WILL, or that would never happen to me, or I’ll never fall, or "I'll never do that" then the circumstances of life have rained upon that statement like blows from a mighty hammer until it crumbles and falls, melting like snow in the rain. You feel surprised that this could happen to you, I think Peter meant every word when he declared his allegiance to his Master but alas he got cocky and thought it would never happen to him, but it did. There’s a little verse I want to bring to your attention today 1 Corinthians 10:12 “If you think you are standing strong. BE CAREFUL, for you too may fall into the same sin”.
I have become really aware of my total dependance on Christ because in my own strength I am frail and sinful and am capable of anything. So instead of saying, "I'll never fall" cry out, "O God, keep me from falling".
The story is told of a very rich Lady who lived in a mansion on a beautiful mountain. The road up the mountain was just a narrow winding road. The lady was looking for a driver for her limousine and got three applicants. On interview she ask each driver knowing they had came up the narrow road, how close they could drive her to the edge and still be confidant she would be safe. Applicant one said within one foot of the edge, Applicant 2 said, within six inches, while applicant three said with all due respect Madam, I would drive as close to the inside as possible, I will not go anywhere near the edge. You can quess who got the job. What about you today, are you to close to the edge, beware!
