Moved with Compassion
I was reading the story of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10 and I was drawn to the phrase, "Moved with Compassion". Jericho was about 18 miles from Jerusalem, about 6 miles from the Jordon, a city of Palm trees. In around 12000 Priests lived here so they would have been busy going about their duties on this road. The Good Samaritan saw the beat up guy and went to him. Proper Compassion always impowers us to action. No point in just having Compassion if we never allow it to motivate us, it's when it moves us to action that we become like Jesus. Over and over again that same phrase is used of Jesus ministry on earth and every time Compassion is used of Jesus in the New Testament something happened. Someone got their sight back, got a hand healed, got healed of leprosy, someone got raised from the dead, Compassion was what characterized Jesus.
Today as we go about our daily routine 8000 people will die of aids in a 24 hour stretch. 11 million kids under the age of 5 died last year mostly of starvation. Today as you eat think that an unbelievable 852 million people are undernourished. You say what can we do, I have found the best way to get my eyes of myself is to develop a serving others ministry. We maybe can't cure aids but we can feed a kid or pay for some medication to ease the pain.
A young boy was walking along a beach which was littered with starfish. He was lifting them one by one and throwing them back into the sea knowing that they would soon die on the beach. An older person said, "son theres to many, you won't make any difference". The young lad had one in his hand which he threw into the sea and said, "It makes a difference to that one". Lets get MOVED WITH COMPASSION.

Hi Philip
Just reading your last couple of days blogs didnt get to read them yesterday but it really inspired me your comment on living for the moment and not living in the past. Its 10 years today from i heard those dreaded words in RVH and Andrew asked can you cure her and the consultant replied "we can treat her but with the help of the Man above we can cure her" and He did. Sometimes we cant help but think of the past and what might have been and who knows what the future holds none of us would want to. So you are right "live for the moment" God bless you, love you loads.
