Look to Jesus
I was out on Lough Neagh last night and ran into a squall. All of a sudden my boat was engulfed with rain, wind and mist. I couldn’t see 10 feet in any direction; I had to rely on my instruments. It was faith and not sight, I kept motoring and all of a sudden a break came, the storm began to pass. A little creek of clearing broke ahead and as suddenly as it came it began to pass.
I noticed something quite unique, as it passed when I looked behind it was dark and dismal but as I turned and looked ahead the sun had come out. I thought I’ll just keep my eyes ahead.
I quoted the verse from Hebrews 12:2 yesterday claiming God to be “the Author and Finisher of our Faith”. Listen to the start of that verse, “Looking unto Jesus”.
If you like me have run into a storm and can’t see in any direction then rely on your instruments, get into the WORD and PRAY like you’ve never prayed before. If my God is who I’ve always believed Him to be (and He is) then there’ll be a break. When Peter looked to the waves he sank, when he looked to Jesus He lifted him and brought to the shore. Keep believing, I’m praying now for all the bloggers who read this blog.

Reading your blog today reminded me of the incident in Mark 4:35 when at the end of a long day on the shores of Galilee, Jesus and his disciples got into a boat. After pushing away from the shore, Jesus fell asleep.. just as a storm exploded in full fury. Twelve frightened men rush to the Saviour crying"teacher don't you even care that we're going to drown"? Now go back and read verse 35. What was it Jesus said before entering the boat? "let us go to the middle of the lake and drown"? Of course not! "let's cross to the other side of the lake."
It was always his intention to take them to the other side, and I believe he will take you to the other side of this great storm too Philip. Praying that he will calm your anxieties and still your storms of doubt and fear.
Much love as always R&J
Thank you for your prayers Phil.

Hi Phil. We all know were you're eyes are fixed. Read Jude verse 24-25. 'He is able to keep us from falling'. We need to know that don't we. But the promise doesn't end there. 'He is able to make us stand FAULTLESS in the presence of His glory with exceeding joy'. This is big! When we think of what we were. Dead in sins etc. And when we think of what we are, poor, weak, constantly failing servants. And then to think that one day we will stand absolutely faultless in the Throne room of the universe, rejoicing with exceeding joy. What grace is this. Is it any wonder Jude said verse 25. (I think he shouted it) Yep keep looking ahead it's waiting for you x SS
Dear Phil
As I was reading your blog tonight I was reminded of what it feels like to be in that "mist" and it made me think of all the times that God showed up when I needed him most and was always true to His words. He is the one who takes our hand when we can't see what tommorrow holds and leads us to a safe place. He was in our yesterday, he is in today and has already been in tomorrow. Job was a great comfort to me.... he had lost everything and yet he praised God and he ended up with more that he started!! What a great God! You are in my thoughts and prayers.
