Tender...

Been back from Ibiza a few days and spent most of them up at Cranfield. Ibiza again was good for me and provides some solace for the pain, mainly through the love and kindness of the community out there.

We went to Cafe Mambo one night to watch the sunset. It is a beautiful place (a bittersweet expereince as most things are at present for obvious reasons) where so many people gather in the 'theatre of God's glory' to watch the sun descend for another day. As the sun descends everyone claps, appreciating better than we do at home and in spite of their apparent ignorance of God, the beauty of His creation. For all the 'darkness' of Ibiza there is much 'holy ground'....that's my experience anyway...
While in Ibiza I found out the origins of a song that Lins used to sing through her illness, thanks to Tracy who listened to me chat compassionately and gently. It is 'Tender' from Blur. Lins only sung a couple of lines of the chorus, 'Oh my baby, Oh my baby, alright, alright.' I never figured out where she picked up this little jingle from but I loved it when she sung it to me and at night I often sing it to her still.
Tracy reminded me of the song these words were found and printed me out the words. They mean so much to me as when Lins lost her speech, I would sing these words to her and she would still be able to sing them back to me even when she could not speak. As I say she only sung a couple of lines to me but I have posted all the lyrics as many of the words of the song are incredibly poignant...

Tender is the night
lying by your side.
Tender is the touch
of someone that you love too much.
Tender is the day
the demons go away.
Lord, I need to find
someone who can heal my mind.

Come on, come on, come on
get through it.
Come on, come on, come on
love's the greatest thing.
Come on, come on, come on
get through it.
Come on, come on, come on
love's the greatest thing, that we have,
I'm waiting for that feeling, waiting for that feeling,
waiting for that feeling to come...
Oh my baby, oh my baby

Tender is the ghost
The ghost I love the most.
Hiding from the sun
waiting for the night to come.
Tender is my heart
it's screwing up my life.
Lord, I need to find
someone who can heal my mind...

Tender is the night
lying by your side.
Tender is the touch
of someone that you love too much.
Tender is my heart
it's screwing up my life.
Lord, I need to find
someone who can heal my mind...

Oh my baby, oh my baby
